Nathan finally had his promotion ceremony today to be promoted to the rank of Captain in the Army National Guard. My mom,
Emmy Cate, and I attended the ceremony and then went to lunch to celebrate!

Emmy Cate's first Fourth of July was a blast! We went with our neighbors, the Schweitzers, to the Club (Country Club of the South is
the golf course that we live on) for the 4th of July celebration. The Club had a great barbecue and a pretty amazing fireworks show!!

Still trying to catch up on posts!! While we were in Memphis, my mom held a "Sip and See" for her friends to come meet Emmy
Cate!! Everyone enjoyed great food and a cocktail while Emmy Cate enjoyed her pacifier!!

I've been a little slack at posting updates, so I'm going to do my best to catch up over the next few days. We have been out of town
for a while, visiting my family in Memphis for a week. We had a great visit and Emmy Cate got to meet her great grandmother for the
first time! The pic below is Emmy Cate and Mamaw McDaniel (Lauren's grandmother on her dad's side).

Emmy Cate is 5 weeks old today! She had her one month doctor appointment yesterday and the doctor said she was doing great!
She weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces, which they said was excellent weight gain! She is in the 50-75 percentiles on both height and
weight, so she is exactly where she needs to be!! She is a trooper and was very well behaved for her appointment. Both the nurse
and doctor said she had a great demeanor. We are a bit biased, but we certainly think so!!
Otherwise, she is changing everyday! She is now taking an interest in toys, loves to gaze at faces, and is trying her hardest to smile
at us. We think it will only be another week or two before we start getting smiles, and then squeals and laughs are sure to follow.

For the past 3 days, Daddy has had National Guard duty but this afternoon he was able to come home after lunch and give Mom a
break!! Here is what he and Emmy Cate decided to do for the afternoon:
Emmy Cate is growing like a weed! Don't mind her little belly in the picture - her clothes are a little snug!! We won't know for sure
until we go to the doctor in a couple of weeks but we guess she has put on 2-3 pounds. She is out of the Newborn diapers and in
to size 1's, and some of her newborn clothes are being retired as well. It is truly amazing how fast they grow. I read somewhere
today that in the first year, their brain grows 175%!!

Today is Emmy Cate's 3 week birthday. It's hard to believe that she is already three weeks old. Tomorrow, Emmy Cate has her first
playdate, and it involves going shopping! One of her and her mom's favorite pastimes!

Emmy Cate had a really busy weekend with Mamaw and PawPaw Childers. On a side note, PawPaw Childers hasn't made his
mind up on what he wants to be called - it's among Papaw, PawPaw, or Pappy!! Anyway, they had a really fun visit with Emmy Cate
and got in lots of time holding her. Emmy Cate had two momentous occasions this weekend, one that her dad is really proud of,
and the other her mom loves. Can you guess which one is which???

Mom took Emmy Cate out for the first time by herself!! So, it was only a grocery store run, but still it was progress. True to form,
Emmy Cate slept the entire time in the car, at the store, and on the way home! She got so many compliments from other shoppers
too! I couldn't help myself and had to take a picture!!

Today, we noticed Emmy Cate had a new trick!! She is finally starting to focus on things and is happy to be staring into Mommy and
Daddy's eyes and learning their faces! It's hard to believe how much she can change each day!!

Emmy Cate had a very busy day yesterday! She went out and about with Mom and Dad and Pro and DeDe to the Taste of Sandy
Springs, where everyone but her got to taste alot of yummy food from local restaurants. There were many, many kids and strollers
there, but it is safe to say that she was the youngest of the bunch at only 9 days old!! Last night, she also attended a dinner party
held by her neighbors! She is already becoming Miss Socialite!!

Emmy Cate had new visitors last night! Her Aunt Mandy and Uncle Gary flew back from Hawaii and stopped over in Atlanta to meet
their niece! Emmy Cate slept most of the time, but she did give them some peeks of those pretty blue eyes!!

Emmy Cate had her first Doctor's appointment today for her one week check-up. She went a little early because she was at high
risk for jaundice. Mom has O- blood and Emmy Cate got her daddy's A+ blood, which puts her at higher risk. Also, she had lost
about 9 oz in the hospital, so we needed to fatten her up and make sure she had gained. On both accounts, the doctor said she
was perfect!! No risk of jaundice and she had put on 7 oz already, up to 7lb., 3oz, which was considered wonderful by her doctor.
We don't go back again for another month!
Otherwise, things are going great. At this point, she is just eating and sleeping all of the time, usually about 2-3 hours between
feeding times. She hardly cries or gets fussy, but when she does, unfortunately for dad's sanity, it is the middle of the night when
she chooses to do so!!

We finally made it home Saturday afternoon and have been nonstop busy ever since!! DeDe and Pro arrived Saturday afternoon to
help out and meet Emmy Cate. We were also surprised with a cute birth announcement stork that our wonderful neighbors had
done for us! I have posted more pics under "Emmy Cate's First Days" in the photo album.

She's here!!! Our beautiful baby girl, Emmy Catherine, arrived on Thursday, May 21st at 7:04 am. She weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and is
20 inches long. Emmy Cate is doing wonderfully and has passed each test with flying colors!! Check out some pictures on the
photo album page under "Newborn Photos." We should be checking out of the hospital tomorrow and headed home as a family of
3 (4 if you count Bits!!). Mom and Dad are hanging in there, but have learned that it is possible to sleep only a few hours per night
and still function!!

Hi everyone! We finally got the website up and running, after having finally decided on a domain name!! Nathan can be mostly
credited with putting it together, but we think it's just right since it will mainly be focused on our little one(s) (yes, that's more than
one, but give us some time!!), and it also stands for our fur baby's name as well - Bits. Anyway, we thought this would be the
easiest way to post pictures and video and give little updates on our baby girl!!
We are officially a week away and I don't know how much longer I am going to make it!! It could be any day now, and any little sign
or symptom makes me sit up and take notice! She is still wiggly and squirmy, but it's obvious that she is running out of room in
there. Mommy's tummy refuses to stretch anymore since she is determined to be back in a bikini by the end of the summer!!
We plan to send out an email message when the big day arrives with a birth announcement, but we will be posting more pics and
some video here. We can't wait!!
